The soon-to-be-defunct relic was a particularly odious petition to the High Court of Justice, which the State of Israel had absurdly filed against itself (!) in 2008. The Olmert government being what it was, its petition against itself basically sought to officially brand itself (and all of us) as "occupiers" of Yehuda and Shomron, thereby verifying all the worst things that pro-Palestinian radicals had been saying about Israel for decades. </span></p>

This Kafkaeque situation can be compared to the situation of a couple who want to divorce and then change their mind -- only to hear from their legal representatives that they are "not allowed" to terminate their own divorce proceeding. </span></p>
