*Annual Event at Kever Yosef: *
Veteran activist Cynthia Friedman (formerly Matteh Netanya; currently Matteh
Jerusalem) has requested the permits for the annual Hilula event at Kever
Yosef which takes place yearly in Shechem on Aleph Tamuz (27/6). She has not
yet received a positive reply. Please call the IDF to remind them that we
really need this event to take place. You may wish to mention that Kever
Yosef is a national consensus location. Even the Peres-negotiated Oslo
accords recognized Joseph's Tomb as a location which is holy to the State of
Israel and the Jewish people. Also, Ariel Sharon gave a written promise,
which is being held by Mordechai Shchori, a Bnei-Brak activist, indicating
that Joseph's Tomb will never be relinquished.
