לאולם התפילה היהודי במערת המכפלה אין גג. החורף בעיצומו.

נא לפנות לראש הממשלה. הנה העובדות:**

*1. כידוע, אולם התפילה הגדול והמרכזי במערת המכפלה משמש כיום את -- הפלשתינים.
האולם שהיהודים מתפללים בו הוא בעצם חצר. *

*2. החצר שהוקצבה  ליהודים כוסתה באופן זמני (לפני שנים!!) ביריעה בלבד. לעומת
זאת - האולם שהוקצב לערבים הוא אולם סגור, מקורה, מחומם, מקושט, מפואר ומאובזר.

*3. היישוב היהודי בחברון הכין -- בעזרת מומחים -- תכנית אדריכלית מיוחדת
לתיקרת זכוכית מחוזקת שתשמר את האופי ההיסטורי של המקום. התכנית קיבלה כבר מזמן
אישור מכל הדרגים המקצועיים (כולל ההיבט הארכיאולוגי),  ואפילו שוריין לו תקציב
ייעודי. *

*4. הדבר היחיד שעוד לא קרה, הוא שראש הממשלה נתניהו עוד לא נתן אור ירוק. הדבר
נחוץ כדי שפקידי המינהל האזרחי סוף סוף יאשרו את ביצוע הפרויקט. *

*5. בימים האחרונים, כח עליון כנראה איבד את הסבלנות: מזג האוויר הסוער קרע
לגזרים את היריעה ואולם התפילה היהודי -- על כל תשמישי הקדושה, ספרי הקודש,
והריהוט שבו, שלא לדבר על המתפללים  -- נחשף לגשם, שלג, רוח, שמש ומפגעים
בטחוניים. כיצד נפתרה הבעיה? נכון - שמו יריעה חדשה....ראוי שנפנה לראש הממשלה
ונזכיר לו, שכל עם ששלט במערת המכפלה הוסיף תוספת: המבנה המקורי הוא הרודיאני,
ועליו יש תוספות נוצריות, מוסלמיות, ביזנטיות, וממלוכיות. ומהי  התוספת
הישראלית היחידה עד כה? יריעה. האם זה מכובד? אנא פנו ללשכת ראש הממשלה והזכירו
לראש הממשלה: רוה"מ, הגיע הזמן לבנות תקרה באולם היהודי במערת המכפלה!!*

*Roofless??*

Believe it or not, the Jewish prayer hall in Mearat haMachpela (Tomb of the
Patriarchs in Hebron), second most holy Jewish site in the world, is
roofless.

Please contact Israeli Prime Minister Mr. Netanyahu because the roof is
absolutely ready and waiting only for him. Here are the facts:

1. The largest prayer room in the Mearat haMachpela has been allocated to
Moslems. The hall allotted to Jewish worshippers is simply a former yard.

2. The hall-former-yard allotted to the Jews was "temporarily" (i.e. about a
decade ago) covered with a canvas. In contrast, the Moselm prayer room is of
course closed, heated, beautifully finished, and ornately decorated.

3. The Jewish Community of Hebron hired experts, years ago, to design a
special fortified glass ceiling which would preserve the historical nature
of the site. The design has already been authorized by every conceivable
official State review board, archaelogically-wise, security-wise and
otherwise, and even has already been budgeted.

4. The only thing which has yet to transpire, is obtaining the long-awaited
green light from Prime Minister Netanyahu. This is necessary in order for
the Civil Administration inspectors to finally allow this project to  get
done.

5. Recently, the forces of nature became impatient: bad weater tore the
canvas to shreds. The Jewish prayer area, with its holy books and articles,
and its worshippers' seats, not to speak of the worshippers themselves, were
exposed entirely to rain, snow, wind, and of course security hazards. What
solution was found? Of course!! A new piece of canvas...

Please can you remind the prime-minister Mr. Netanyahu that each and every
nation which ruled over the Mearat haMachpela took pride in adding its own
mark. The original structure is Herodean, and every nation added its own
additions -- the Christians, the Moslems, the Byzantines, the Mamluks. What
has been our, uniquely Jewish, contribution thus far, after 44 years? A
piece of canvas!! Please remind *PM Netanyahu: It's high time to build the
roof for the Jewish hall in the Mearat haMachpela!!*
