החדשות טובות: ועדת השרים לענייני התיישבות החליטה להשיב לבג"צ בשם הממשלה
שאכן -- תושבי מגרון קנו את הקרקעות שלהם -- ולכן אין שום סיבה לפנותם.****

החדשות הרעות: שניים מפקידי משרד המשפטים (היועץ המשפטי ווינשטיין ומנהלת
מחלקת הבג"צים אסנת מנדל)  לא מוכנים לייצג את עמדת הממשלה - כי היא לא מוצאת
חן בעיניהם.****

*The uncontrolled arrogance of pro-Palestinian officials in Israeli
government*****

Last week, the  Ministerial Committee on Settlements  instructed the State
Attorneys' Office to prepare a response to the High Court. The response,
said the Committee, should clarify that if the Migron community had indeed
bought the disputed  land  -- there clearly was no reason to evacuate the
Migron homes.****

But State Attorney Osnat Mandel and Attorney-General Yehuda Weinstein
simply refused to carry out the instruction.

Furthermore, instead of representing the ministers in court, attorneys
Mandel and Weinstein turned on their own ministers. The policy of the
Ministerial Committee  was "legally problematic", the attorneys accused in
open court  -- rather than defending the ministers as their position
requires.****

This exposed the two attorneys, not for the first time, as belonging to the
political persuasion of Talia Sasson. Sasson was a pro-Palestinian legal
expert who set policy during Ariel Sharon's era and shortly afterward
joined the tiny, radically pro-Palestinian Meretz party. ****

Since Sasson's time, the new Edmond Levy legal experts' committee has come
out with legal findings that completely discredit the conclusions Sasson
reached. ****

Please write to the Ministerial Committee on Settlements about this. For
example, you might write: "*Dear Ministers, If Osnat Mandel and Yehuda
Weinstein continue to refuse to carry out your policies then - with respect
-- they must be dismissed. As a voter / friend of Israel, I expect you not
merely to formulate policies, but to insist on their implementation --
including terminating employment of any out-of-control officials who
arrogantly refuse to do their job. Sincerely yours, (YOUR FULL NAME)*****
